One giant example of the usefulness of Twitter is Iran. It is now one of the prime sources of news coming out of there.

So twitter provides a powerful means of expressing oneself, it does that for the people of Iran, and it can provide intel on what people are thinking about us, but beyond that, can it really be controlled as a marketing tool? I suppose that by tweeting we could improve our authenticity, but why would anyone tweet back? Who's going to pay attention?
