Hello everyone! I'm at the SharePoint Conference and I'm trying to post a brief synopsis of each breakout session I attend to help you decide which ones to watch right away.
The Overview of the SharePoint 2010 Developer Platform talk was informative, and very exciting! I highly recommend watching it to all SharePoint developers. Visual Studio 2010 will have far better integration with the SharePoint platform, however, it will work only with the 2010 development platform. Relationships between lists have been added so that you can do things like cascading deletes. In fact, lists are becoming a lot more like transactional records in a traditional sql database. There are a lot of other interesting and powerful additions such as new workflow functionality, site workflows (no list required), REST access to lists via ADO.NET Services, and upgrade support from WSS 3.0/SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010.
